2009 Academic Scholarship Program

A part of the mission of the Air National Guard Civil Engineer's Association (ANGCEA) is to support education of its membership and member's dependants through an undergraduate and graduate school scholarship fund program.  This year, calendar year 2009, the program will award one undergraduate scholarship for $2,500 and one graduate school scholarship, also for $2,500. The qualifications and procedure to apply are outlined below.

  1. QUALIFICATION FOR UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS
    1. Applicant must be a member of ANGCEA in good standing or a dependent of a member of ANGCEA in  good standing.   Dependant is defined as spouse or child of the member.
    2. Applicant must be a sophomore in good standing with their university and have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
    3. Applicant must be pursing an undergraduate engineering or related science or technical field.
    4. Other factors may be taken into consideration, although they are not requirements. These factors are as follows:
      1. Applicant’s financial need. This will include applicant and applicant’s family income. Note, applicant does not have to provide financial information on the application but may choose to provide it in the “other factors” section of the application. 
      2. Applicant’s academic standing. 
      3. Applicant’s involvement with extra curricular activity participation in organizations and societies, school projects or community service.

  2. QUALIFICATION FOR GRADUATE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS
    1. Applicant must be a member of ANGCEA in good standing.
    2. Applicant must have completed at least 9 semester hours of credit towards their degree, be in good standing with their university and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
    3. Applicant must be pursing a graduate degree in engineering, management, business or business administration.
    4. Other factors may be taken into consideration, although they are not requirements. These factors are as follows:
      1. Applicant’s financial need. This will include applicant and applicant’s family income. Note, applicant does not have to provide financial information on the application but may choose to provide it in the “other factors” section of the application.
      2. Applicant’s academic standing.
      3. Applicant’s involvement in other activities outside the classroom, such as research, professional societies, etc.
  3. APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
    1. Applicant must provide the following
      1. A cover letter addressed to the Chair, ANGCEA Academic Scholarship Committee
      2. A completed ANGCEA Undergraduate or Graduate Scholarship Application (as appropriate)
        1. Undergraduate Form
        2. Graduate Form
      3. A current transcript
      4. One letter of recommendation from an instructor, professor or a professional currently working in the applicant’s field of study.
    2. Applicants must ensure completed application packages are submitted to the ANGCEA member’s Squadron Commander no later than 15 September.
    3. NOTE: Electronic submission of application packages is preferred.
  4. SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROCEDURES
    1. Squadron Commander selects one package to submit to the ANGCEA Scholarship Committee Chair.  Application packages must be received by the ANGCEA Scholarship Chair no later than 30 September 2008.
    2. The ANGCEA Scholarship Committee will review all submitted packages and select recipients by 31 October.
    3. Scholarship award winners will be announced upon selection. They will also be recognized at the annual ANG CE Workshop.
